Old Newsboys Grant Enables MOUSABA to Provide Equipment to
Blind Athletes in Track, Goal Ball, Judo and Skiing
Aided by a generous grant from Old Newsboys, MOUSABA has been able to provide necessary and unique equipment to a number of blind athletes in a variety of sports this year: running shoes, track spikes, and special athletic competition shirts and leggings to prevent sunburn for athletes with albinism in track; hockey pants, blindfolds, football torso pads, knee and elbow pads for blind goal ball players; and gis for blind judo fighters.
MOUSABA Announces Local Training Grants
MOUSABA has instituted a grant program to help local elite blind athletes to develop their skills. For many years, MOUSABA has funded athletes to attend training camps and competitions across the US and the world. While opportunities for competitiions have contintued to occur, national and regional camps for amateur blind athletes in various sports have become increasingly rare. In response, the Missouri Chapter of USABA is now offering grants to help local athletes to access community resources for training and fitness. This new program offers full reimbursement of fees incurred at local facilities and programs by blind athletes seeking to train or qualify for competitions at the regional, national, and international levels. To apply for this exciting opportunity please click on our Local Training Grant page.
